Homework Policy

Expectations:

Homework is an important practice to develop. Creating a study routine is a great way to make homework manageable, as well as facilitate good study habits.  In Second Grade, students have schoolwork every Friday.  During the week students should be practicing reading, spelling and math facts flashcards every night.  There are some things to keep in mind when planning after school activities and study time.

  • Spelling tests are every Wednesday
  • Homework is every Friday

Late homework:

Students should complete a little homework each night in order to meet these deadlines. In the event that homework is not turned in at the time it is due, the student will be given the opportunity to finish it during recess.  The assignment will still be sent home if it is not finished in the day and a phone call will be made. This is to make sure parents, students, and teachers are aware of any potential problems.  If homework problems persist, students and parents will be invited to meet with the teacher to create a plan to help the student organize and manage work.
